Abstract

In this research, we focused on research execution activities as a field of ill-defined problem solving and developed a mechanism to grasp learners’ thought processes based on interpretation rules and a generic ontology of research activities. The idea behind this mechanism is to prompt learners’ awareness of their own thinking processes so as to foster their metacognitive skills. In this paper, we discuss the features of a support system that we developed to achieve this goal.
