Abstract

While it is desirable that learners tackle their learning activity by trying to read between lines and give an interpretation to lighten the background context of the knowledge, most of them merely focus on memorizing what is taught to improve their test scores. In this research, we aim to develop a learning support system that encourages learners to change their learning attitudes to active ones through performing historical thinking activities. Our approach is to focus attention on the potential of historical cartoons as learning materials. In this paper, we discuss the concept of an adaptive learning support method by utilizing semantically enhanced historical cartoons.
