Abstract

In this paper, we examine some of the design principles and contextual conditions for fostering interest in learning. We hope to present some initial discussion of the research issues and challenges that need to be addressed in working towards iterating and refining the IDC theory. Explorations of facets of this theory are intended to motivate further research work and to derive practical implications such as design principles to impact learning and educational practices. We hope to further contribute to the understanding and promotion of interest-driven, creation-focused and habit-oriented perspectives towards a broader vision of what learning and education should be about in Asian countries and societies.
