Abstract

A learning method called dictogloss is focused in second language learning. We have constructed a dictogloss environment that enables self-directed study for second language learners. In the present study, we focused on the speaking skill, which was not supported in our previous dictogloss environment. We thus added to the system “pronunciation evaluation of the learner’s reconstructed sentences which they read aloud to the system” and “error identification conducted by the learner of the CLA’s reconstructed text” by utilizing speech recognition technology. In the present study, we implemented the proposed system and evaluated its effectiveness using participant questionnaires and interviews.
