Abstract

In this paper, we attempted to analyze learners’ motivation based on peer assessment process logs. In many previous studies, the reliability or validity of peer assessment was discussed based on the students’ peer assessment score. In contrast, we have discussed the necessity of analyzing evaluation-timing and temporal behavior in the assessment processes. We conducted an experiment and the following feature variables, such as “Evaluation Time” or “Standard deviation of the scores of the evaluation items”, were calculated from the collected log data. We analyzed the relationships among these feature variables. As a result, we found some positive and negative correlations among them. Furthermore, when conducting continuous evaluations during a single lesson, these trends were more noticeable in the evaluation at the end of the lesson than at the beginning of the lesson. We expect that the characteristics of the evaluation behavior would be useful as indicators of the lack of motivation in terms of serious evaluation in peer assessment evaluations.
