Abstract

Games can enhance students’ learning motivation and performance, but students with different personality traits would have different learning behaviors and emotional responses in the game. In order to dissect the learning effects of games from the perspectives of personality traits, this study developed a complex board game, , based on the historical events of Tayal aboriginal tribe which uses interactive multimedia to support and extend learning experiences. A corresponding digital system is developed to document students' gaming behaviors so that the students’ learning behaviors and gaming emotions can be analyzed. The goal of this study is not only to investigate the impact of personality traits to gaming, but also to construct an instructional design for historical thinking, as well as to increase students' multiple perspectives to historical events.
